Link Building
June 6 2009
Building links for your site is one way of doing off-site SEO. In essence, you are going to be slowly and meticulously adding links that are directed back to your site with certain keywords with the hopes of using all that “link juice” to start ranking in the search engines more and more. There is no such thing as ranking well in a search engine without gaining links. Google, especially, loves links. However, it is quality.
A quick note, though, is that without on-site SEO, building your links is for naught because it won’t be as successful.
There are a few ways of building links for your site. We, at Atlanta Web Design, love to employ as many different tactics possible because it provides the best possible results for you. The goal is to get you to the top three ranking for your keyword because if you’re there, you’re going to be seen. Being seen is important and then being clicked is even more important. So, how can you build links? Here’s how:
- Use article marketing. Here you can write an article pertaining to your niche, submit it to the big article directories (Ezine Articles) and then in the about the author section, link back to your site. Voila, you’ve just got some links. If other people use the article, you’ve got even more links.
- Post on forums. Forum posting is a tremendous way to build links. Throw your site into your signature and then start posting on forums. Not only will be people come check out your site, but the search engines will count that as some links and that’ll push some more traffic.
- Buy them. Google penalizes for the purchase of links and they catch people because the links are bought on sites that are NOT IN YOUR NICHE. Don’t buy a link from a site that isn’t in the same niche as your site. But, go right ahead and buy a link on a similar niche site. Google will actually love that.
- Leave some blog comments. Similar to the forum posting, you can leave blog comments (with your keyword as your name) which will help you to rank more and more. A lot of blogs these days also have a “top five commentators” section on their blog that sends even more link juice to you.
These are just four of the hundreds of ways you can build links, but they are notorious for being the most successful. If you do article marketing, it can be a successful and effective way of getting content out (none from your site) that can build you links. You want to be known as a professional and this is one way. So, when you’ve developed the keywords you want to rank for (another article for another time), the next step is to start build links.
