We’ve been spending a ton of time talking about all sorts of graphic design and things of that nature. You’re adding images to your site, making it so that it is tremendously appealing. What you’re going to want to do is go into the code and make sure you add an “Alt” tag to the image. To see what an alt tag looks like, look here:

You’ll see that you’d throw the image URL between the quotes after src, but you’d throw in a little description after the alt. That description is how the search engines are able to determine what that image is about. Search engines can’t actually see anything. They only read keywords and code to determine what is going on. So, when they happen across an image, the first thing the bot does is look at the alt tag to see what’s going on. They’d see, in this case, Rocky Patel 1990 and that would be a keyword you’d potentially rank for.

So, you’re probably saying to yourself, “Great, let’s throw a bunch of different keywords in there to rank for them.” That used to work. However, search engines got smart, which they typically did, and began to punish for alt tag spamming. So, the trick to getting that little extra push to your site from your image is to use a very basic description. If the image is of a particular cigar, only use the name of that particular cigar. Don’t throw in other names.

Alt tags don’t provide much anymore because of how people abused them. However, they still do something. Add in the fact that there is another fifty five million (exaggeration) ways of optimizing your site, this is just one way of ensuring that you get even a few more people to your site. A few people a day more is the start of a positive SEO campaign.

Our SEO leads are going through the roof now, people want to be ranked high in the search engines for their specific terms. If you’re a plumber in Naples, you want to be ranked 1st in Google for “naples plumber”, and that’s where we come in. You tell us your business and then we sit down and figure out what people are searching to find you.

There are really two ways of helping people find your website. First you can go with PPC which stands for “pay per click”. PPC is the ads you see along the right side of search engine results pages. It’s a fast way to jump to the top of the search results but it comes with a small issue, every time someone clicks you have to pay. Depending on what niche you’re in it may only be 3 or 4 cents per click. However, if you have a health related or legal related company you’ll find that you’re paying between $1 and $10 per click…yes EACH time someone clicks to your site you will have to pay that much money no matter if they buy something or turn around and leave. If you have deep pockets this can be a great option to go with where you will see immediate results.

For those of you who don’t have the kind of money to pay $1.00 or more for each visitor to your site, there is a second option. The second option is called “SEO” or search engine optimization. Basically its involves a few different things. The main goal is to get your site ranked in the top 3 search results for a given search terms. Again I’ll use the Naples Plumbing term. Say someone searches for “naples plumbing”, obviously you want to be the first site they see because the first site receives about 44% more traffic than the number 2 spot and the percentages keep falling from there. We will get you ranked for your term, different niches will cost different amounts. In other words, getting ranked for “naples real estate” is going to cost much more than getting ranked for “naples plumbing” because not only is the spot worth much more, there is a ton more competition. The attractive part of SEO is that you don’t have to pay everytime a visitor comes to your site, it’s a gift that keeps on giving.

So yea, we are a new company that’s going to be offering web design and SEO to people in the SWFLA area. I’ve already got a chance to meet some of you like Ryan from rtdesigngroup.com and his partner, I’m sure I will cross paths with more of you in the future, hopefully it will end on a positive note. Basically I’m just babbling right now as I need some fresh new content on the domains I regged.

As we speak one of our designs is getting made up for the main site untitled project. I hope they get the wordpress theme designed and ready to go pretty soon because I need to put it on our network of sites. I was going to wait to start making blog posts until after the design was up because I didn’t want people to see us in this kind of default WP design, but whatever, no big deal I guess.
