When one thinks of advertising they probably think of magazines, newspapers, TV, billboards, and so fourth. But if you don’t include online advertising into your marketing budget you could be making a serious mistake. Today, believe it or not, online advertising has overtaken traditional advertising. With the decline of print media such as newspapers and magazines people are now turning their marketing budgets towards online advertising.

One of the cool things about online advertising is that you are able to target a specific audience which allows you to save money by not advertising to people who have no interest in your product to begin with. Think about it, if you want to advertise in the Naples Daily Newspaper, you are forced to advertise to everyone who gets the paper. Of course this includes the 90% of people who couldn’t care less about your product or service. With online advertising you could show ads to only the people you want to target. Let’s say you own a plumbing company in Naples. You could very quickly go to Google, setup a PPC campaign, and show ads to anyone in the SWFLA area who searches Google for plumbing related terms. This saves vast amounts of money by not advertising to people who don’t need or want your product.

There are also other forms of online advertising where you can target specific websites to put your ads on, popups, banners, and even SEO style advertising where your site comes up in the organic search results. Whatever your method is, I would recommend you pay attention to online advertising. If you would like to speak to someone at RT Design about Naples Advertising or Naples Marketing we are available M-S 8am to 8pm.

Marketing is something every company should do if they plan on being around for the long haul. Today marketing is made up of more than the traditional print and TV models. More and more you will find that online advertising is not only just as important and big as traditional marketing, it’s actually become the most used advertising path for many companies, both large and small.

So how do you go about marketing your company online? There are two main methods and I’ll go over each of the main ones below.

PPC or Pay Per Click – This method has its ups and downs. One of the benefits to PPC is that you see immediate action. You can setup a PPC ad campaign and start receiving visitors within an hour or so of setting up your ad campaign. The downside is that each and every time a visitor comes to your website you have to pay money, even if they don’t buy anything. The way it works is pretty simple, you go to a ad service such ad AdWords and you create your ad which will be seen along the right side of search results. Depending on how competitive the keywords you want your ad to show for are you could pay anywhere between $0.25 per click on up to $20 or even higher per click. As you can imagine this process can get very expensive, especially if you’re in a niche that has extremely competitive bidding amongst the advertisers.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization - SEO is the process of getting your website to rank naturally or “organically” as many SEOs say. Organic results are the true search results you see when searching the internet for something. As with PPC, there are positives and negatives with SEO. In my opinion the positives far out weigh the negatives but we will go over both so you can make your own decision. Let’s start with the negatives, when a website is new Google doesn’t show it much love. In fact some websites may have to wait 6 months or more before they start seeing any traffic or rankings from Google. This is one reason why it might make sense to use a combination of both PPC and SEO. When your company site is new and not getting any organic results with Google, use PPC. Once you start getting natural traffic you can tone down the PPC and start to rely more on natural traffic. The cool thing about SEO is that the traffic is basically free. Of course you have to pay someone to get you in the search results initially but once you’re there you will usually stay there so long as you’re not in a very competitive niche. If the niche you’re in is extremely competitive then the SEOing must continue otherwise you will probably drop and lose your ranking. There are all sorts of things that influence how your site is ranked naturally: domain age, domain name, content, backlinks, on site factors(coding, META, Etc.)

I hope this helped you to understand a little more about web marketing and advertising. If you have any questions or would like to speak to someone at RT Design about marketing your Naples business please feel free to contact us.

When you think of marketing what comes to mind? Do you think about TV commercials for products like Pepsi or Coke? Maybe you think about billboards along the interstate? There are all sorts of ways to get your company or brand noticed both online and offline.

Did you know that last month, for the first time ever, online advertising overtook traditional marketing and advertising?

“Online advertising overtakes TV advertising for first time. The poor economy in the U.S. has caused hardships for many different companies from technology firms to the publishing industry. Ad revenues fell sharply in the print publishing industry leading to several publications being forced to close up shop or transition to a digital medium.“

The U.S. isn’t alone in its struggles against the poor economy; the same war rages in the UK as well. BBC News reports that online advertising spending has now overtaken television ad spends for the first time ever. Online ad spends grew 4.6% to $1.752 billion while TV ad spends shrank 16.1% to $1.639 billion for the first half of 2009.

You read that correctly, traditional print advertising and even TV marketing are taken a hit in recent times which has given way to online advertising and marketing. In a lot of ways online advertising beats traditional advertising hands down because it allows the advertiser to very specifically target their audience.

For example let’s say you’re selling a product to people who like to watching boxing, MMA, and other combat sports. With traditional marketing you would have to run a very expensive ad during a boxing match or some other event. Unless you have the huge amount of money it takes to run your ad during a major event you will be stuck running ads on a lightly watched show and you probably won’t see any return on your investment. You could have taken that $5,000 or however much you spent on that one TV ad which got you nothing in return and run ads on a major MMA or boxing website for days or even weeks.

I’ll put it this way, RT Design has done both TV ads and online ads. TV ads, without a doubt, perform at about 10% of what online ads perform at. Dollar for dollar, online advertising and marketing beats the hell out of traditional advertising. From newspapers and magazines to TV and cable, there is no comparison. We don’t see this trend dying down anytime soon, as more newspapers close up shop and go out of business the online world is where people will continue to turn. The question is, are you ready? Is your company ready? If you plan on having an online presence now is the time to start before your competitors get too much of a head start on you. Call us today to see what we can do for you.

Have you ever seen or heard the term search engine marketing or commonly called “SEO” which is the easy way of saying search engine optimization? Well if you’re a business owner you need to know about it because it can literally turn your struggling company into a monster, even in these rough economic times.

When you hear people talking about search marketing, SEO, search engine optimization, or any of the other terms that are out there, they are talking about getting your site ranked at the top of the search results for a list of given keywords or keyphrases.

I’ll try to explain this for people who don’t really get the internet, search engines, and how it all works. So let’s say you own a lawn service company in Naples or Fort Myers. Now put yourself in the shoes of your customers who are looking to hire a lawn service company. More and more people turn to the internet to find what they need. If you go to Google and type in naples lawn care, does your company site show up? Is it #1? Is it on the first page? Maybe it’s on the second page? The point is that if you are unable to find your site then how are your potential clients supposed to find your site?

That’s where we come in, we can take your site(if you don’t have one we are also a full service web design company) and put it at the top of the search results for the search words or phrases you want most. I don’t need to tell you how bad the economy is right now and we both know companies, especially small local companies, need all the help they can get when it comes to finding new clients and leads. Being at the top of Google search for your desiered search words is crucial to your online sucess.

So what are you waiting for? You can come by our offices or give us a ring Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm and see how we can help you realize your online dream.

Everybody wants their website to rank highly in Google. The higher SERP you have, the more exposure you get, which equals more visitors who should translate into more customers.

We all know about keywords and their impact on achieving a higher SERP placement. If the word or phrase you are trying to rank with is a competitive one then this is where quality comes in. It doesn’t matter how many times your keyword of phrase appears on a page, Google has moved on from there. It got wise quite quickly to keyword stuffing, Alt text and all the other black hat tricks that webmaster were employing to get ranked higher.

Now the overall quality of the site is judged. Both by how often the site is updated, and how many inbound links there are. Those links are then in turn judged on how relevant to the site content they are and ranked accordingly.

If you want to give your site the best start possible there are a few things you can do.

Write a good page title between the tags for each page. It should accurately describe what’s going on each particular page.

Try and create new content each week. If you or the site owner can’t do that, get someone to do it for you. Continually evolving sites, with value being added regularly appear much higher on SERPs. Make the new contact good quality content, while wanting to appeal to a robot, your site also needs to appeal to human traffic.

Link to good quality relevant sites, and try and get reciprocal links back from them. Each relevant link to you is counted as a “vote” by Google. Every single one will count in getting the site higher.

Lastly, don’t be tempted to trick Google into placing you at the top. They employ teams of very, very clever people to program out as many tricks as possible. They also have a policy of “blacklisting” sites they think are trying to play the system. If you want to use Google, play by its rules. There are still plenty of legitimate ways of getting what you want.

The main thing to remember when designing a site to rank well is quality. Ignore the SERPs and concentrate on creating a useful, useable site with quality content. The quality is the element that will make it a success or not. It’s like businesses who concentrate on good customer service instead of the bottom line. Look after the customers, create a pleasing experience for them and the money will follow.

Thinking like Google for a moment. If you were a multi-billion dollar business whose reputation and profit came adverts shown with search engine results, would you want to be known for showing quality websites that fulfil the search criteria, or for returning sites that knew all the tricks? The reason Google works so well is because you get what you search for. If that changed and all of a sudden your search just returned amateur sites that you didn’t want, you would stop using it.

The key to a good SERP position is quality, not quantity.

Everyone knows times are hard, granted Naples and Fort Myers may not get hit as hard as most places in the U.S. but we’re definitely feeling the pinch. So are your business sales down? Have your leads taken a hit? What are you doing to supplement your losses? Many people are turning to marketing…more specifically internet marketing. What is internet marketing? It could be any number of things, when I think of internet marketing two different terms immediately come to mind. The first is SEO which involves adjusting your websites settings to be more friendly towards the search engines, and other off-site adjustments. PPC is the other term, PPC stands for pay per click and it’s the process of paying a site or search engine such as Google to show your ads atop the search results. The question is, are you doing either of these? If not, why?

Both SEO and PPC can be equally effective. By now you probably understand that the internet can generate real sales and real income and I’m not talking about the infomercials you see late at night that tells you dream stories about making $10,000 a day in your sleep, that’s all lies. However I am talking about making money online, you’re not going to make $10,000 a day while you sleep, just like real life, you will have to work if you want to make money online. The biggest issue is how to get people to your site. You can buy advertisements on other websites and pay each time a visitor clicks your ad or you can let the search engines work for you.

First you have PPC, as I said above this is basically the process of going to one or all of the search engines and paying them money to list your site atop the search results. This is an effective and fast way to start generating traffic to your website. The problem is you have to pay, and you have to pay each and every time a visitor clicks through to your site which can get very expensive, especially if you’re in a niche where the competition is serious. Basically you will bid on each keyword. For example if you want to be #1 for “naples drywall” the competition will probably be fairly low and you’ll end up paying 5-10 cents each time a user clicks your ad. For other terms like “naples plastic surgery” you’re going to pay much more, sometimes up to $5 or more dollars per click depending on your niche. Legal, web, and health niches are usually the most expensive.

For those of you who don’t want to pay each time someone clicks your ad, there is an option called search engine optimization or “SEO”. This will still cost you, nothing is free, but SEO won’t charge you each time a visitor comes to your site. If you get 10,000 visitors a month or 10,000,000 you will still pay the same amount. SEO is the process of getting your site ranked naturally in the search engines. There are a few different factors that determine how your site is ranked for a given search term. Some of these terms you have control over such as on-page text and formatting, others like age of your domain you can’t really control, only time will give you an aged domain. What we do is determine which search terms people are most likely to use when looking for your service or product. A good example of SEO in action is what we are currently doing with napleswebdesign.net. We are currently working to get that domain ranked 1st for the search term “naples web design”. As of right now we are sitting in the #2 spot but the site is only a month old so considering how little time we’ve had to work on it #2 isn’t bad at all. The site is also in a very competent and competitive niche.

Florida, and South Florida in particular is one of the hardest hit areas in terms of foreclosures. I think Fort Myers / Lee Country ranked 4th in the country for home foreclosures. So anyway, during times like this it’s important to grab each and ever lead you can, and there is lots of business to be had online. Few people understand how to get targeted traffic on the web and that just happens to be one of the things I specialize in. I recently took a job for a popular Florida Web Design company located in Naples, Florida. Right now our SEO clients are coming fast and hard, everyone seems to be searching for that edge that will get them a lead over their competitor.

If someone searches Google for “Naples [insert your speciality here]“, who shows up? Is it your company or a competitor? Or even worse, a competitor from out of town or even out of state? Why don’t you show up first? I’ll tell you why, because you haven’t optimized your website and taken the proper steps to let the search engines know you’re site is there and what it’s about. Search engines are just programs, not people, they can’t go to a website and say “oh, this is a website about Naples Plumbing”. Search engines need you to communicate with them in special ways so that they know what your site is all about and what search words and phrases you should be showing up for. This is what we can do for you, if you own a Naples Plumbing company, you need to be ranked 1st for “naples plumbing” and if you’re not, you’re losing potential leads. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be showing up for your niches best and most desired search terms.

If you’re interested in learning more about the process of SEO, please feel free to contact us and setup a free consultation.

I just realized this site was still using pages that were redirecting to Untitled Project, which happens to be banned in Google. My last boss bought the domain from some guy and didn’t know it was banned at the time. We didn’t know it was banned until we started using it and linking sites to it. I began to notice our sites were all dropping from the search engines and I couldn’t figure out why. Eventually I realized that the domain was toast in Google so I removed all links pointing at it. Within a couple days the sites jumped back in, apparently I forgot about this site.

Anyway, all fixed now. I’ll be posting on here more often now, I sort of forgot about this domain completely.

Times are hard and people are searching for more ways to make money, yes even in Naples. Chances are you found this page in Google by searching for “Naples advertising”, correct? Well what if you could have your search term show up 1st in Google? In other words, what if you owned a plumbing company in Naples and when people searched for “naples plumber” your site was the first one to show up, would that help you? Well, that’s one of the things we can do for you and your company.

The process is called search engine optimization or “SEO”. The good thing about SEO is that it’s the gift that keeps on giving. With many advertising methods such as banner or PPC, you have to pay every time someone views your ad, or every time someone clicks on it. With SEO, once you pay a company like us to get you your rank, that’s all there is, now just sit back and collect the traffic to your site.

So you’re probably wondering how much such a service costs right? It’s hard to give a price over a website without knowing what keywords you’re specifically going for. Lots of different factors will determine your price, some of these factors maybe geo-location you wish to target, competition for that term, what niche you’re in, if you have a website and how old it is, how your website is formatted, and many other things. If you would like more information on this service please call 239.450.1407 for a free quote.

A good example of PPC can be seen here, if you look on the right side of the page you’ll see Google Adwords which is PPC. The term I searched for in that picture is “real estate” so it’s safe to figure those sites are paying at least $4 or $5 every time someone clicks an ad. It’s probably closer to $10 but we’ll call it $5 to be on the safe side.

So you’re thinking “wow, that’s a lot of money to pay for 1 visitor that may just come to my page and leave”, and you’re 100% correct. Sometimes PPC is the only way to break into a niche. Real estate is a good example of that, very few SEO people have the skills or resources to break into the top 10. I suppose it’s more about resources than it is about skill, it takes so much content, links, and coding to make a site worthly of being in the top 10 search results for a term like real estate that most SEOers just can’t compete. The few that do have the money and resources to compete would NEVER get this term for a client because the term is just too valuable, if they were to get it that would get it for themself and rake in the millions.

That’s not to say all PPC is expensive, most real estate terms are expensive and there’s no getting around that, even something like “naples real estate” is going to cost a few bucks per click but that’s because the real estate is naturally an expensive one to compete in. Getting your ad shown for something like “naples lawn care” is going to cost MUCH less. I’d guess you can probably score a nice ad for such a term at around $0.25 per click, not too bad.

In my opinion SEO(search engine optimization) is far superior to PPC for a few reasons. First, it’s free. Well not exactly “free” because youu have to pay money in the beginning to have someone come in and get you ranked, but after you’re ranked then you will usually hold your rank for at least 6+ months depending on how competitive that niche is. If the niche is competitive then you will need to come back in and do some freshening up, maybe add some new content or something to keep it fresh. Another reason I like SEO better is because many people are ad-blind. In other words, they mentally ignore ads. If you search Google or Yahoo constantly, chances are you’ve become accustom to the ads and you tend to ignore them when you search for something.

So in my opinion, unless you cant break into the niche because it’s too competitive or you don’t feel like hiring an SEO person, there isn’t much other reason to use PPC. Some people actually use both PPC and SEO, If you have the money and really want to get your name out there, you can’t beat SEO and PPC at the same time.
